Default Rate the Climate: Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia

Climate statistics for Australian locations
Mount Isa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A very sunny, semi-arid climate. Average sunshine is about 3470 hours. The summers are very hot, with a record high of 45.9C/115F. The winters are generally warm, however they have seen a minimum as low as -2.9C/27F and a maximum as low as 9.4C/49F.

Even though the annual rainfall isn't very high Mount Isa does see a lot of thunderstorm activity with 40-50 thunderdays a year on average.

I rate it a C-. It is too hot and dry overall, but because there are plenty of storms in summer it is not that bad.

I'm pretty content with the climate in Mount Isa.
I dislike the supposed pollution levels around the area though.

Purely climate based, I'd rank Mount Isa just a notch below Perth.
Mount Isa usually has big day-to-night temperature swings and is probably more cyclone prone.

D. Too dry for my liking. At these temps, I require plenty of rain

A bit too warm throughout the year and rainfall is a bit on the low side.

No winter, too hot, and too sunny. I give it a grade of F.

I'll have to give this one an F. If temperatures in summer were cooler, like Melbourne, I'd rate it higher for sure.
