It's winter out West and not just above 4000 feet. Temps at surface below 3000 feet are in the 40s and real feel of 30s and snowing in spots. (the snow is mostly above 4000')

FOR ELEVATIONS BELOW 4000 FEET REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM MDT
THIS EVENING.

* TIMING: LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL CONTINUE IN THE LITTLE
BELT...BIG SNOWY...HIGHWOOD...AND BEARS PAW MOUNTAIN AREAS
TODAY. AREAS OF SNOW OVER THE PLAINS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH MID
DAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: TOTAL SNOWFALL OF 12 TO 24 INCHES IS
EXPECTED ABOVE 4000 FEET...WITH ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS.
FOR
ELEVATIONS BELOW 4000 FEET...TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 2 TO
4 INCHES IS GENERALLY EXPECTED...MAINLY ON GRASSY AREAS.

* VISIBILITY: VISIBILITIES WILL BE REDUCED TO LESS THAN ONE
QUARTER OF MILE AT TIMES IN AREAS OF HEAVIER SNOWFALL.

* OTHER IMPACTS: MOUNTAIN PASSES AND ROADWAYS WILL BECOME SNOW
COVERED AND SLIPPERY...WITH LOWER ELEVATION ROADWAYS
BECOMING SLUSHY AT TIMES. HEAVY WET SNOW COULD CAUSE DAMAGE
TO TREES OR POWER LINES. OUTDOOR RECREATIONISTS SHOULD BE
PREPARED FOR WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS.

They say they hope not to see snow again until WINTER?! With a place that sees snow in July, wouldn't it be normal to see it in Fall, not winter?

Looks like GFS shows snow for the West June 5th. Comes on shore in CA then moves North towards Canada.
