WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – It was a weather oddity on the first Monday of June, as several areas around the region saw a decent amount of rain and it started snowing in the Sierra in the afternoon.

There’s a winter weather watch in effect for the western slope of the Sierra until about 5 a.m. on Tuesday, and snow levels could drop down to 5,000 feet overnight.
CBS13′s Ben Sosenko was tracking the rain on Monday and found some mixed opinions on the weather.

There were blue skies at 5 p.m, but it was raining a good part of the day. Some people welcomed the change… Others were not so happy about it.

“It’s a change,” one person said. “It’s something different.”
Call it a spring surprise after a sizzling Saturday and Sunday turned into a wet and muggy Monday.

Beginning and 3:15 shows the snow video in high country.

Some similar, but even more extreme, happened last year.

San Francisco got close to 2 inches of rain in June!

Just remembered I posted this. Once again, GFS impressing me. Way to go GFS. Too bad it wasn't reliable over winter. It saw this snow event from a week out at least.

Default Apgar Mountain June Snow

From Glacier National Park fan page.

"By the looks of the summit of Apgar Mountain you'd never think it was the first week of June. There is a winter storm advisory for areas of Glacier National Park above 5000' with significant accumulations expected in the higher areas. The mountains are going to get a nice new dusting of white today."
