Needles is insanely hot in the summer (hotter than Yuma). Its relatively cold winters just don't make up for the summers. Plus, it is a bit dry.

Guantánamo Bay is too dry, hence its semi-arid classification and ugly landscape.

I'd choose Mangalore despite its high rainfall and lack of cooler record lows.

Guantánamo Bay: F+
Needles: F-

Guantánamo Bay for me.. edges out Mangalore due to much better rainfall distribution.. both are A climates though.. Needles is a B climate for me

Mangalore: A-. I really love that monsoon but would prefer a stronger dry and something of a cool-off.

Guantanamo: B-. Too dry, but fairly even precipitation, not awful temperatures.

Needles: C-. Winters surprised me with their pleasantness, but like most really hot desert climates, it suffers from the inverse of what many Dfa / wintery Cfa climates do: three awful months, two not great middling months, and the rest of the year pretty good.

Mangalore for me.

Guantanamo Bay is too dry to compensate for the perpetual heat, and Needles is just far too hot in summer and far too dry, and winter is definitely not cold enough to compensate.

Needles. Mangalore's rainfall would drive me out very quickly.

What a choice . All of them get an F at best from me. I'd choose Needles, because despite the extremely hot summers (which when humidity is factored in isn't much worse than the others), there's a chance for cooler weather in winter. That's something I can't say for the others.

As for living conditions, which doesn't figure into a climate assessment, I'd say Needles is the best as well. Mangalore is quite impoverished, but even that can't compare to the living conditions of a good portion of the Guantanamo inhabitants. Face it: being in prison unjustly, possibly for life, and being subject to torture is about the worst living conditions you can get. Of course there's also the navy people in the base, but I don't imagine they're exactly living in luxury.

Keep in mind that whatever your view is regarding the Guantanamo prison, a discussion regarding it is quite off-topic here, and is irrelevant to a climatic assessment, which is what I'd like to continue seeing here.

Needles is the only one with any break from the heat, November-March is fine there. The other two don't receive any respite, there's a reason why Gitmo was chosen for "the camp".

Muahahaha... . Seriously, from what I hear the choice was more influenced by being outside of the mainline states and territories and proximity to the naval base than climate. And besides, some of the inhabitants of the camp may think it's easy going weather-wise (just check out the climate of Mecca...)

Needles, despite the horrible summers. At least there's break from the heat, unlike the other choices.
