I can't speak to Orlando weather, but I have lived in Palm Springs for nearly 40 years. Locals can't help but roll their eyes when people say, "but it's a dry heat." We have to assume those people don't actually stay here all summer. The winters here are absolutely beautiful - blue skies and sunshine, temps in the 70s-80s. Yes, it's dry enough to make your skin crack, but nothing a little lotion can't fix. The temps can start getting into the 100s as early as March, and continue into early October. July and August will be over 110 almost every day, and it is not uncommon for the overnight "low" to hover around 90. Those two months are also extremely humid. Lots of "chance of rain" days, with no rain. I compare it to being snowed in, in reverse. Even inside, with the air on, you cannot get away from the stickiness.

Keep in mind both places are chilly in winter...Palm Springs is SO cold winter nights, and springs. Orlando gets those hard freezes.

In a related topic.... (we discussed how cold San Diego gets compared to south Florida)...I saw that on November 10th San Diego fell to 48 F (some of the eastern outlaying areas fell to near 40 F).

So far I don't think Miami has fallen below the upper 50's yet. I did check Key West yesterday - and their low so far this fall is 65 F.

Both are much better than any oceanic or continental climate.
Both have "A" winters with lots of sunshine and mostly warm days and cool nights.
Both are just a little too hot in the summer for my tastes but also have ubiquitous AC to deal with the heat.
You don't have to shovel heat to go from from point A to point B in your AC car.
Palm Springs has dry heat which is worse in the afternoon but cools off to very comfortable nights.
Orlando has humid heat which is worse in the morning and early afternoon but those thunderstorms take the edge off the late afternoon heat.

Palm Springs gets a C from me
Orlando gets a B from me.
London and Boston both get Ds from me.

Since I like thunderstorms, I would choose Orlando in a climate battle and say Palm Springs is "worse" because it's just plain, boring dry heat most of the time.

Both climates are within a reasonable day trip from the beach as well but Florida's beaches will be as hot as Orlando (a humid 90 F) while California's beaches will be about 30F cooler than Palm Springs for most of the summer! (75 F vs. 105 F!)
