Sorry for the lack of posts here guys, that was one incredible NorEaster. After getting 60" in 4 weeks here on the coast in 2010-11 I didn't think I would be more shocked... until this storm drops 30-40" of snow within 24hrs. A seasons worth of snow within 24hrs! Just sick.

Biggest snowstorm on record around here. 5th for Boston. 2nd biggest for Hartford.
A ton of moisture was involved. Ratios started at 7:1 then as the polar air injected into the storm ratios went to 15:1.

And it doesn't stop... more snow for coastal NY, CT, RI, MA Wednesday night... and maybe a bigger storm this weekend.

It would be really cool if you got another blizzard like that in a week's time. It's never happened before (at least not since 1717), but at the same time there's no reason it couldn't happen.

Well, this frontal system is sure moving through much sooner than I expected. If the forecasters could actually get it right, I would have been better able to plan the timing of various important events but there we are. Who pays their salaries?

Well wouldn't you bloody know.

Yawn. Not getting sucked into that path again, this will be the 5th time now. Although its bound to deliver at some point if it keeps coming, so maybe... NO.

Finally, the first definite snow storm of the winter here. It featured big moist flakes. But since the temp was around 36, it wasn't able to accumulate on the ground much and soon melted once the snow stopped.

ONLY 1000 miles?! It's hardly close is it, it's about the same distance as London to Southern Spain!
