Here in Tennessee, our averages are currently 11.7°C/0.7°C at Crossville (nearest reliable weather station to Cookeville, which is where I'm currently located due to college). We've hit 18°C on January 11 and 12 in 2013, but haven't since then; we typically get an 18°C day by February or early March. Average highs are about 18°C by April 10.

My hometown, where I am on weekends, breaks, and summer, is quite a bit warmer owing to lower elevation. The current average is 13.9°C/2.2°C. It hits 18°C several times during the course of most winters; in colder winters, it may not reach 18°C until late February. The average high hits 18°C on March 28.

Once it goes more than 1°C above freezing, it's rather close to the average end of snow cover. Still some sticking around. May get more soon. Or not.
Well the difference in temp seems to increase from a few degrees to about 10c in london in the summer quite quickly here.

Now it's looking as though we may get little or no snow out of this event as the darn thing has moved north & east of me and my excuse for goofing off for a couple of days is gone.
Living in Virgina you'd have nothing to get excited about anyway. It will be gone in a day.

A foot of snow? Still takes a while. I'd rather see a foot of snow that lasts a couple days than old snow of a few inches that stick forever.

still not a day. I've seen one foot snow in mid-April, can't remember how long it lasted. Did get to go cross country skiing. Here's one in Ithaca.

Ithaca Climate Summary

Lasted a couple of days. Still 1+ foot is much more interesting to me than see a small amount of snow last for weeks.
