Well, I must admit i'm really surprised at the predicted temperatures. Upto 1/2c at sea level. That is a 16c difference between 5000feet and sea level. Surely the difference won't be that high?

I think the temps are being over predicted. If its cloudy, it'll be stuck below freezing for sure.

I thought we would've been guaranteed ice days.

My dad just came back from cycling and says its snowing at 300m?

I am seriously confused. I thought we had to wait to 6pm to see snow. Obviously not, just surprised because it hasn't even started in GB.

Temp is 3.5c with dew point of 1.5c. Which would mean the air is saturated up there.

Ice needs to be 8 cm thick to safely carry a human and 20 cm to carry a car. In Estonia, ice roads are opened when ice thickness reaches 22 cm. The duration they're open can vary a lot from year to year but mid-January to late March is a good estimate.

The longest known ice road from Estonia was opened in 1323 and reached all the way to Lübeck in Germany. The longest regularly opened ice road (also the longest in Europe) reaches from the mainland to Hiiumaa, a 26 km stretch. Cars have been known to fall through the ice but it's much faster and more convenient than a ferry so about a thousand islanders travel on them daily.

For an above average winter, I cannot complain at all. This has been a great season. Snow cover should be obliterated over the next few days with sunshine, temps in the 50s, and rain later on, but it looks like it may cool off at the end of the forecast period with highs dropping back down into the 40s. Think we got about 8-10 inches of snow at my house...up to a foot in the higher elevations.

Great weather by the way! Here next week's cold front has been downgraded by models. Highs should nonetheless shrink significantly, from 60°F tomorrow to 35°F on Wednesday (as is currently forecasted).
You know about Action Park?!

30's but our snow pack isn't leaving, melting but with 12-15" on the ground, huge piles everywhere, takes time!

Heading to the UP tomorrow, less than desireable forecast, but I'm counting on it not being as bad as some reports. By Monday when I return, I'm thinking the storm will have moved east!

Bridgeport, CT (closet NWS station near me) coastal Connecticut needs 2 more inches to become the 2nd snowiest winter on record (since 1948).. Amazing year here. 61" of snow fell at BDR. Over 3 feet above normal to date..

Whats sad is.. I've seen grass not to long each time it snowed... Longest snowpack I had was 3 weeks after the blizzard. And it took 4 rain events to clear it.
