Interesting stats regarding NYC. This may be the first March in ten years to not reach 60 F. The past four March's reached 70 F.

Interesting how January may have a warmer maximum than March.

No signs of warmth in the forecast. Snow storm even possible Monday.

Although this March has felt like an extension of February, it looks how it's supposed to.

TWC has us inching closer to normal, Monday (42F/34F) looks to be the only day that's significantly below average.

Here's yesterday's actual highs, which represent a classic Springtime gradient ranging from 96F in Texas to 20F in North Dakota. The 50's in Illinois have been knocked down to 30's today with 8-12 inches of snow, and all of Texas is now below 70F. This, ranging from cool rains to heavy wet snow, is what March should look like in a four season climate. It's very telling that this month has featured well below normal temperatures - normal in the U.S. is simply too hot .

Today is following in the footsteps of the rest of the month so far. Today there is an impressive swath of below normal temperatures that stretches almost from coast to coast:

The map for tomorrow's lows is similar:

Local ski resort is hopping today. Still a very solid base. Pretty unusual for it to be open this late. I think they're even opening at the end of the week and this weekend.

Yeah the departure from average should be easing. I see a high of 40 F tomorrow, otherwise highs between 45-50 F. Average by now and through the rest of the month is low- to mid-50s. Guess we'll have to wait until April for the first mini-heatwave.

So far this is shaping up to be the biggest snowfall yet this season. There's a nice hill in these woods near my house I've gone to to go sledding. I might do that later today.

Hard to believe, but there are still FOUR METER (14 foot) snowdrifts blocking many of the roads around my area. Wow. That will be here end of April I believe.
