My personal record high and record low--both in Colorado, in two towns only 90 miles apart (both unofficial temperatures, but recorded on accurate thermometers):

55 below zero F.
108 above F.

The cold temperature was in Gunnison, Colorado, one of the coldest locales in the US. That particular winter it went about a month without getting above 0 F.--yes, that's Fahrenheit, not Celsius. I remember one particularly cold day, the HIGH was 29 below zero. Ever since living there, anything warmer than 20 below really doesn't bother me much at all.

New York City

Record High: 115F (officially 109F)
Record Low: -3F (not that low for a record low lol)

Both are surprising.
