Average Weather for International Falls, MN - Temperature and Precipitation

I couldn't figure out how to do this without having an area already in there. But just in case you don't know the exact numbers for your area, this site will give them to you.

International Falls isn't my area, but that's what is in there right at the moment.

I live in southeastern So. Dak. and the record high for my town was set in 1940. The high is 116.

The record low for my town was set in 1955 (YAY~my birth year). It was -50. That's without windchill, of course.

So what are the records for everyone else?

This is for the area near the Kansas City metro. This city is located so far south in latitude that it does not get very cold too often. (in terms of below zero temperatures)

The highest recorded temperature was 104°F in 1988. (Uncomfortable, but that's nothing!)

The lowest recorded temperature was -20°F in 1994.

I think the Great Lakes keep our weather somewhat moderate...

It's a very large metro area with a wide swing in temps but these are the "official" records...

Record Low: -8F

Some northern suburbs have been as cold as -12F in the past.

Phoenix: highest all time temperature was 122 in 1990, and the all time record low temperature was 16 in 1913. Prior to 1990, the highest temperature recorded in Phoenix was 118, and that was tied on several occasions.

What's scary is the predictions that Phoenix may easily have more 120 + days in future summers. That used to be unheard of here, but that might be a result of the urban heat island effect. Our coldest winter temperatures seldom drop below 40 degrees anymore ... although we did get down to 29 degrees in January of this year. That's a rarity these days.

I do know on November 11th, 1911 (11/11/11) OKC set both a record high and low for the day at 83 and 17! Yikes! Neither records have been broken to this date. 113 is our record high and -8 for the low. Granted I've heard of temps above 115 and below -10 just outside the city. But whatever, those are the official records.

That's strange~you probably already noticed that the records were exactly 17 months apart. You must have some of the same flip flop weather that we have up here. You'd think records would at least be set in different decades, but I guess this shows that's not the case.

Nameless, we had a similar freak day a long time ago. I had only read a bit about it, but member Dan had confirmed it. If I can find that post, I'll let you know the extremes of our day, too. The date of yours is kind of funny.

I've seen 107 here and I've seen -58 with no wind.

But I was looking over the web to see what the records were. I come across something that Jammie would be interested in. Several years ago, South Dakota had a fenomenon. It was -4 degrees and a shanook blew in. This is all recorded by meteorologists. In 4.5 minutes the temp went up 54 degrees. Snow started melting. But 20 minutes later, the wind died out. In 3.5 minutes it dropped back to -4 degrees. Wow!

I've been recording the temperature in my backyard since everyday since 1980...

Highest........ 115 degrees on Sept. 3, 1988.

Lowest........ 28 degrees on Dec. 26, 1987.
It got down to 29 degrees earlier this year (Jan. 14).
