Would any of you consider Eureka, CA subtropical? It's hardiness zone 10a and many species of palm and also some citrus can grow there..

No, it's Mediterranean, definite Csb climate. Subtropical is Cfa, has uniform precipitation distribution and very humid. Lots of places in coastal Spain has palm trees and can grow citrus but it's very Mediterranean, nothing compared to Miami's 11a zone or my hometown's 13b

Superduy, which region of Queensland are you from? Cause usually people from subtropical and tropical areas (like us) have stricter criteria for this subject

I wish I lived in Queensland; not there yet though.

I currently live in Winnipeg , parents moved here from Poland.

I don't agree with Koppen's version of what constitutes
a subtropical climate, coldest month average temp -3C (27F)

Hard to say where I would draw the line, coldest month average
temp 5C (41F) IMO would be more like it.

In the east starting at Virginia Beach, then west near NC-VA state line,
dipping south thru Appalachian Mts.
Southern Tennessee, Chattanooga westward to Memphis.
Then mid Arkansas, just including Little Rock, west thru southern Oklahoma, Red River Valley, just north of Texas state line.
Western limit where climate becomes too dry, Wichita Falls,Texas

I think it starts close to Cabo San Lucas.. La Paz the capital of Baja California Sur is technically still subtropical.

On the mainland.. I think it starts north of Mazatlán around Los Mochis.

Still looks sub-tropical in those places, lows are not warm enough. Not warm enough for me anyways.

Subtropical climates: All of Florida (except the very south), the Gulf coast, south Texas (up to and including the Hill Country), the Atlantic coast south of and including Charleston, southern Arizona, and California west of the Sierras and south of the Cascades.

Atlanta is subtropical. New York City should not be subtropical.

I think Eureka, CA is due west of the Southern boundary of the Cascades which starts at Lassen Peak.. would you consider Eureka subtropical?
