Lowest temperature recorded in İzmit is -9.7*C, recorded in January 2009 ( Data: 1950 to 2015)
Lowest temperature recorded in İzmit is -18*C, recorded in February 1929 (Data: 1926 to 2016)

Which data shoud I use? 1950 to 2015 or 1926 to 2016?

Wikipedia uses 1950 to 2015 climate data.

Record low from my nearest Met Office weather station is 4C/39F in January 1981 (which could be anything from 3.5C-4.4C as the figure was rounded).

Record low for Malta as a whole is 1.4C/34.5F also in January 1981.

Record low (for Oklahoma City): -17 F/-27 C (February 12, 1899)
Coldest I've experienced: 9 F/-13 C (January 7, 2014) in Durham, NC
Coldest temperature in a place I lived while I was alive: 1 F/-17 C (January 28, 2000, I was a toddler at the time and probably didn't go outside when it was that cold)

-29,5c was in January 1963 at the nearest meteorological station, which is located 17km southeast from my town.
Probably in my town was even colder, because my town is located northwest of that station and less urbanized that the town in which the station is located.
Meteorological measurements in my town have started in 1990.

Winter 1963 in Serbia was very cold, it was one of the several coldest winters in the 20th century.
The average temperature in January 1963 in Novi Sad (42km northwest as the crow flies from my town) was -7,4c , and the lowest temperature was -30,7c.

All time record low for Phoenix is -8.9°C set in Jan 1913. Temp here hasn't gone below -3.9°C in the last 45 years though, so I think the current record will never be touched again
