Man, those 70s up in Massachusetts look nice, why can't they be down here in Jersey?

Ok...here we go finally. Sunday will be final day of this long duration heat.(Newark, NJ had 7 of last 8 days in 90s). Saturday should be worst day next few days.

After Sunday a Trough dips down and the Ridge decides to sit out west. So its going to get Very hot out west and seasonable in the East. Nightime temps will get chilly in the east because of this trough (see GFS18z projection below).

I believe Its going to be short lived because the trough will weaken and the Atlantic Ridge will move towards the East coast. So 3 things will be interesting to watch.
1. How weak the trough Gets
2. How far the Atlantic Ridge builds back to coast
3. The front that could stall because the Atlantic ridge pushes against it on the coast which could bring a lot of rain to the Eastern Seaboard.

GFS18x Monday night temps.

Excessive Heat Warnings are out for Saturday. Corn belt of the nation will feel like near 110 with real feel values. NYC to 106.

Does anyone know the status of the drought in mid section? Crops must be hurting a little now. This is why farmers rather have 2 feet of snow in winter than excessive heat in summer. Heat isnt good for anyone.

Unstable weather in Belgium. Clouds, rain, sunshine, thunderstorms. About 22°C now (71°F). We're on the wrong side of the jet stream that's splitting Europe in two for the moment.

That’s an amazing statement

Only in the UK would someone think nights in the 40’s and low 50’s in the middle of summer are “too warm” – lol. My low last night here outside NYC was 65 F and it was “refreshingly cool (slept with the AC off)” compared to a few nights ago when it was a humid 76 F for a overnight low.

To think that lows of 59F and 61F are too warm is hardly amazing; I think that's at least part of what Cambium was referring to. That said, those mid 50's are warmer than I'd like it to be, though I wouldn't mind them (the >58F lows are pushing it for me).

I essentially agree with Cambium - cool it down by 6F and it would be perfect. As it stands now it's a bit too warm, and yes, that is an amazing statement. Your "cool" 65F in New York is what I consider to be warm and muggy, not comfortable or refreshing by any stretch of the imagination (for me anyway; I'm glad you got refreshed).

And in many parts of the U.K. "warm" or more objectively mild nights (55F and up) are rather typical in the middle of summer. Scandinavia and Alaska are two places that usually stay below 48F in summertime, not the U.K.

Nights of 15°C / 59°F are a bit cool for me. 25°C / 77°F would be "too warm" for me. In my ideal summer climate temperatures never go below 15°C / 59°F at night, averaging lows of 19°C / 66°F or 20°C / 68°F.

I'm only referring to the previous 2 nights, lows in the high 40's and low to mid 50's are fine.

This is also coupled with dew points virtually the same as the temperature and humidity edging 100%, so feels a bit warmer than what is showing.

Low this morning was 56f, which is not too warm for me.
