He's posting news of interesting cold weather and snow events. You don't have to have a climate-change agenda, cooling or warming, to appreciate it.

Well, you finally got some cool weather. You might just have turned the corner from summer into autumn from my reckoning . Seriously, the first 6C evening in my dream climate occurs in September (converted to Southern seasons, that's March, as opposed to June in B.A.). Of course Buenos Aires and Sophieland are much warmer than Patricianopolis, and I'm sure you're enjoying it. I'd be soaking up the brisk air myself if I were in your place, though it would be too little, too late for me to enjoy "winter".

Here in the NorthEast U.S I'm used to seeing and hearing about "Nor'Easters"...pretty cool to read about "Nor'Westers"..
Heavy snow ahead for South Island - national | Stuff.co.nz
An emergency warning has gone out to coastal residents near Thames to be wary of flooding as the combination of a king tide along with a low pressure front hitting the country is raising tides to abnormal heights. Police had already received some reports of flooding in Auckland
Meanwhile, large areas of the South Island are bracing for heavy snow as a band of stormy weather bears down on New Zealand.
MetService is warning that up to 100cm(39 inches) of snow could accumulate above 300 metres(984') in Canterbury and Marlborough, although it has cancelled severe gale warnings for parts of the lower North Island and Marlborough Sounds.
"This is likely to be a highly significant snow event for Canterbury and Marlborough making travel very difficult and causing stress for livestock. Heavy snow could also damage structures such as powerlines,"
The snow would be brought to the area by a sharp front that was expected to lie over the central South Island this evening.
In Canterbury and Marlborough south of Seddon rain was expected to turn to snow late this evening or overnight. In the 27 hours from 9pm, 50cm to 100cm of snow may accumulate above 300 metres, while south of about Lake Tekapo between 10cm and 40cm was expected

Interesting weather today. Overcast, but quite mild, the temp staying around 15 C from noon until after dark. Started raining in earnest in the evening -- we've had nearly 20 mm so far.
As for the potential snowfall, we're still fairly mild here on 7 C just coming up to midnight. Further down the coast they're sitting on 2-3 C. I'll be surprised if there's not something on the hills come morning, but as far as a significant sea-level snowfall, I think it's all just media hype. That's my intuition, anyway.

LOL I'm actually on the side of RWood on this one, finding all this advertising and picking out of cold events to support some agenda very tedious and boring.

Why does there always have to be an agenda? If you care so much, post stories of record warmth in the southern hemisphere yourself. It isn't a big deal at all.

I don't know mate. It's boring isn't it? I personally have no such agenda hence I don't feel the need to bring attention to either stories of cold or warmth. From now on I shall just ignore these threads. So called "unusual" cold or warm deviations in weather have been happening since the advent of time, that people consistently report one side of it (i.e. the colder events) over the other just to support their anti global warming agenda is beyond me personally! As for myself I really have no or little opinion on the nature or reality of global warming myself, hence no agenda and no compulsion to create or contribute to these one sided threads.

Yup. Media is media, they need the "attention" but you would know more than me on this, are they saying snow to sea level? I only read one article so far and I read most of the snow would be above 950 feet. I do see they say this "Between 10cm and 40cm may also accumulate in the area from 100 metres to 300 metres, while lesser amounts may fall to near sea level"
Not sure what "near" would mean there but do you think there's a chance and at what level? Here in the U.S I hear hype for everything including 2" of rain. LOL but I dont have access to what they say as much as you do.
Also, Is 3 feet of snow impressive for 300 meters with one storm June 5th?

It always is just media hype. The bigger the hype, the bigger the fizzlaaaahhhhhh
You should see the idiots on the Australian Weather Forum predicting doomsday and "biblical this" , "batten down the hatches" ,"biggest event in years" blah blah blah. Latest example of such hype is in this thread: The Australian Weather Forum • View topic - Burst of winter 23rd - 27th May
All we got was a few puffs of wind almost strong enough to shift stray particles of dirt and boring lame drizzle all day
And here they are conceding defeat
