Northern Italy
Colder winters than most people would think,
Milan and Turin (Milano and Torino) have colder winters than most places in the UK.
South America
A lot of people have a mistaken impression that other than Andes Mountains,
south america is mostly tropical and rainforest.
Chile and Argentina are mostly outside the tropics and have some cooler temperate climates.
Though lower elevations in northern Argentina are quite hot and humid.
Russia and Canada
When people think of Russia or Canada, people think frigid cold climates.
Both do have some very cold climates but also have areas with warm summers,
warmer than much of northern european summers. Also milder winter areas too (albeit small),
Black Sea coast in Russia (Sochi) and pacific coast in Canada (Victoria).
China
China has some areas with very cold winters, even the capital Beijing's winters
are cold (same latitude as Philadelphia but colder in winter).
Mediterranean France is more consistent as far as warmth is concerned

St Mary on the Scilly Isles last July didn't go below 16C or above 21C. In July 2010 it struggled to get below 18C or above 22C.
I think one of the biggest misconceptions held by many natives of southern states and warm countries is that Minnesota is cold year-round. Yes, it is cold in the winter, as well as on many spring and fall days, but in the summer especially it can get just as hot and humid (or more) as Florida. The difference is that is not every day like there.
I agree tvdxer I live up in far northwestern Minnesota along the North Dakota border and the same thing....we have 8 or 10 months of winter....always cold. Normal high temps in Grand Forks from early July through about mid August run in the lower 80s. We can get into the 90s at times and it is often humid just like the south. Our summer;s dont last as long as farther south of course...but we do have a summer with the heat and humidity as well. We wouldnt be able to grow all the crops if we didnt.
It is just in our part of North American we have two extreme seasons --- winter and summer with a small spring and fall in between.
People who move here and have little knowledge of weather are always surprised by our warmth.
I live on the Mexican Border in Arizona, we've beeen in the mid 80s each day with rain. the 4800 ft altitude helps but most people think Arizona and 100+ .
