What do you think the average for the US would be if you only looked at the southern half?
The debate was not whether ALL of the US was warmer than ALL of Argentina. But rather the US had just as large an area of subtropical climate as Argentina. Overall Argentina is a warmer country cause it has a smaller area of land, and a much larger percentage of that land is subtropical compared to the US.
I proved in that thread using land areas and google earth that the US has just as much if not more areas with subtropical climates as Argentina. Sophie called the US a "cold" country which is rather silly when you consider all the warm areas and the vast array of climates here. Far, far more Americans live in a climate warmer than France and Argentina than live in Alaska and the Upper Midwest. CA, Texas, AZ, and Florida have over 90M people.
Parts of it are cold, and parts of it aren't. The US is a very large country, and using the word "cold" to describe it is an over generalization. Canada yes it is cold. And of course with Alaska, and the much larger landmass of the US our overall mean temp will be colder.
