How do you do those images? I would love to create one for my area.
Anyway, the climate for my area. Would consist of temps in the winter of around -10c in the day and -20c at night and the temps in the summer would be around 20-30c. We would get around 100 inches of snow and it would rain much less than it rains at the present moment.
and yes, those 500 cm of snow at -70°C do make sense ... I just thought that it would be interesting to see, how much of those 3000 cm of snow the 48°C in july would be able to destroy.
An eccentric orbit climate offers up interesting possibilities, even the boiling scenario. Let's say that the 80C summers evaporate a lot of water, or even if temperatures rose above boiling and the whole oceans boiled away. Come autumn all that moisture would rain out, and in the second scenario would refill the ocean basins. As temperatures cool down, snow would come into the picture, especially for the naturally cooler regions.
If there was a high altitude or naturally colder polar region, all that water in the atmosphere would rain out in the form of snow. Imagine the sort of hardcore winter conditions that would bring: the parched ski slopes being refilled by constant heavy snow.
Conditions would then settle down and temperatures would become extremely cold in winter. Conditions atop the snowpack would resemble an ice sheet, or a supercharged version of Antarctica. Winter and Spring would be the driest seasons, and the ice breakup in Spring would be an extreme event to witness. Summer would bring torrid conditions and a bit of evaporation, or in the more extreme scenario complete evaporation of the oceans.
The runaway greenhouse effect would be operative here, but I imagine that, as the planet moves out towards Jupiter's orbit and cools off, the water vapor would rain out. It would be very harsh (and perhaps untenable) for native life-forms, but there's no reason to assume an "atmosphere collapse".
