Grandpa, I hope you are not affected by the fires near OKC> Our granddaughter, her hubby and their 2 girls live in Mustang. I guess Mustand is ok. Luckily for the family, they are enjoying some time in Branson before school starts.
stay cool. I know we are trying, but it isn't easy...First we lost our front grass and I doubt it will come back, next year. It isn't too lush and this is the 2nd year of this. Our back was doing fine, it is gone. I am about to take all the front porch plants and throw them away, it just isn't worth trying to keep them alive.
We have pans of water out for the squirrels or whatever else is in the back yard, as well as corn cobs. They disappear as fast as we can put them out. The other day there were 4 squirrels drinking out of the pan at once.
46° C! This is Death Valley territory. Here the Fall cooldown is starting, next week won't see anything above 20° C. I hope it cools down in the US soon as well, that kind of temperature is not suitable for life.

I was out running errands earlier (on foot) and sweating like...Patrick Ewing because it's about 80 degrees outside. Well I see I should be grateful it's only 80.
After weeks of coolish but comfortable temperatures in the Pacific Northwest, we are seeing our first really hot day since September of last year. This is expected to be brief and it didn't exactly sneak up on us but Corvallis (OR) just cracked 100 (37.8) for the first time since 2009 as I am posting this.
