I'm a latecomer to this thread, but I'd like to say that it has been an awesome event, and I've enjoyed seeing all of the pictures of the rather thick snowfall. It's just what the Doctor ordered for late September . It was a "teaser snow" for what hopefully will end up being a great winter overall.
Yes, about as welcome as a wasp under your bed clothes.
Seeming as you've had snow in June within living memory do you know when the earliest snow in Buxton is? We had snow on 28/10/2008 which was the first lying October snow in 74 years - much earlier than any other snowfall in recent years.
I don't remember seeing snow until November here, while it can happen up til about mid-May some years in spring, I haven't been here long enough to see it earlier than November. I have only lived in Buxton in the autumns of 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 10 & 11.
In October 2008 there was snow apparently but I wasn't here then.
