I choose Macquarie Island for the much milder winters

I think I'd need more than a sweater in either place

No way id live in a climate like Iqaluit, or Macquarie. But the edge goes to Macquarie.

Iqaluit by FAR...for relatively nice summers and much more sun.

Not really a fair comparison as Macquarie Island is vastly warmer (annual mean of 4 C vs -10 C). But I choose MI -- even though Iqaluit is much sunnier the temp difference is too great for it to compensate.

Given a choice between Mac Isl and Nome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nome,_A...hy_and_climate) it might be more difficult for me to decide.

Both heinous choices. I would go stir crazy with Macquaire's excessively low sunshine and drizzle so will opt for Iqaluit. Even though their winters are mind numbingly cold, I could handle their summers.

Well they are both epic fails as far as climate is concerned, probably go with Macquarie Island as the winters in Iqaluit are far too cold for me.

You know that a climate is terrible when you choose Macquarie Island over it.
