Wettest month, December 2000: 501.14mm

Driest year: 2007, with only 600.7mm (2013 reaches this value before the end of March)
Wettest year, 2001, 1510.3 mm

Central Park: June 1949 - 0.02" 0.508 mm)
LaGuardia: June 1949 - 0.03" (0.762 mm)
JFK Airport: June 1949 - 0.00" (0 mm)
Newark: June 1949 - 0.07" (1.778 mm)

Wettest Month:
Central Park: August 2011 - 18.95" (481.330 mm)
LaGuardia: August 2011 - 17.32" (439.928 mm)
JFK Airport: August 2011 - 17.24" (437.896 mm)
Newark: August 2011 - 18.79" (477.266 mm)

I remember August 2011, it wasn't really a rainy month, the vast majority of the rain fell during two events, a 20+ hour torrential downpour and Hurricane Irene.

Going on Williamtown (Newcastle Airport) data:
Wettest month: 599.6mm February 1990.
Driest: 0.0mm - has occurred only twice, in July 1970 and August 1995.
Most intense rain was June 2007, which saw over 400mm over a 2 day period, resulting in the floods:
