MTD also above average.

Forecast much cooler for tomorrow with morning rain and a high of 20 C. Will feel frigid by comparison! Then it's expected to warm up on Wednesday and should be pushing 30 C again Thurs-Fri.
Does Christchurch get some 20+ C lows every year?
My favourite sunrises are in the low 20's C.

Very warm and humid last night - in fact one of the warmest nights I've experienced anywhere.
Didn't get to sleep until around 12.30am and have been awake since 3am. Looking at investing in ducted air conditioning early next year!

At least it is the last week of work before Xmas and we are winding down with Xmas party tomorrow night...

I wonder what it is like to get a summer...

Not all that often. For a 54-year period (1954-2007), the Aero site had 15 days with Tmin at 20C or more - the highest was 22.6C on 7/2/1970 (after 32.6C max on the 6th), 22.4C on 14/1/1988 (after 32.8C) - invariably this would be in a NW event.

Wow, it sure was a warm night there, I noticed Brisbane CBD only got down to 25.1C last night - that combined with 23C dew points must have been pretty sticky.

A minimum of 20.9C here in Dalby though, it's surprising it got that low after yesterday's very hot day.

13 C and overcast now. I'm trying to resist the urge to turn on the heater.

Very nice to see the run of frequently cloudy weather still continuing here with, MTD, three overcast days; five days recording daily totals below three hours and just five clear days
Just 104 hours of sun here ending 17th . Melbourne 138; Brisbane 176; Adelaide 145; Perth 171; Hobart 144 and Darwin 135.
Sunday, at the airport, shows a daily total of 10 hours being recorded but judging by my personal experience - in the city - would have been between 7 - 8 hours as we (friends visiting here from Wellington, NZ) were hit with heavy showers passing by from the west with an mostly cloudy afternoon .

North Auckland 130; South Auckland 115; New Plymouth 133; Stratford 107; Wellywind 129; Christchurch 146; Dunedin 83 and Invercargill 107.

Interestingly, I have seen several overnight lows at 28+C with dewpoints at 26+ C over many years in Toronto, Canada. Funny how our "worst" nights beat most places in the world for sweatiest nights.

Yesterday was a good day. South winds calmed down below 30 km/h and the sun popped out. I was warm enough and happy again. Daytime max around 25-26 C.

I take my "too mild NSW sunshine" comments back, or at least reserve them for winter.
Sunshine in Newcastle summer, starting about November is nearly the same as Perth; intense during clear conditions.

I wish I could compare it with Newcastle, NSW.
I don't think we have a station here that posts recorded sunshine hours on a daily basis.

If I had to guess, I would say we've had at least 6 hours of sun per day, which is not cloudy by Toronto Canada standards. It is definitely sunny enough for me, especially since the UV maximum for clear skies is very high, a bit of intermittent dense daytime cloud can be a good thing in summer.
