Nice little storm coming through, yay!

Not a whole lot of rain but some fantastic lightning and thunder, love that summer rain smell as well.

27 C here at 10:30 AM with a strong 45 km/hr NWer. Today is meant to be the last warm day for the forseeable future, so I'm making the best of it.

Sounds like BS to me... either they were taking the temp in the sun, using non-standard equipment/method or on the ground.

A blistering 18C here today, felt like any other August day with cloud and occasional showers The heat and humidity of last week is well and truly gone.

The forecast calls for 37C on Saturday with possible storms (please god) followed by 20C on Sunday with a rapid warm up next week to 27C on Tue and 30C on Wed.

Not much middle ground here, it's either Tucson or Oslo. Often both within the 24 hour period.

Broke 30 C again today! And to think we didn't get past 28 C the whole of last summer.

Beautiful bright blue sky all day long too. Clouds stayed way off on the horizon where they belong, except in the evening when some high cloud came overhead (but obligingly didn't obscure the sun). It felt wonderful with the low humidity and constant breeze, like being enveloped in a warm blanket.

Cool change coming on now though -- it's midnight and down to 12 C.

Now 30ºC in BA at 12pm. 34.6 of heat index with 70% of humidity and...23.5ºC of dewpoint!
It's feel really heavy. Hopefully, the rain is near. We'll have a good amount of precipitation the next two days, maybe 100mm!

THE SUN FEELS SUPER STRONG
YOU CANT WALK IN THE STREET

ETC

yesterday was the same!

37c heat index????

what a horrible horrible day

maybe its the almost 25c dewpoint that makes it feel this bad!!!!!!!!

It was very cold last night, reaching 7.9C/46F here. This is the coldest on record for the current weather station (20 years of record) though the old station had recorded 5C once. Canberra had a low of 0.3C, beating the old record of 1.1C. Some towns in the southern tablelands of NSW recorded sub 0C temperatures, such as Goulburn with -1.2C/30F, a town 640m above sea level. The unusually cold nights were caused by the extremely dry air, which enabled very strong low-level inversions to form.

Yesterday a large bushfire was burning not far south west of here, with smoke blown right towards town nearly all day:Bushfire burns in Kumbarilla State Forest near Dalby | Toowoomba Chronicle Thankfully it is gone this morning.

Steady light rainfall throughout the day, is helping to freshen things up again. Not enough to put much water in the tanks though.

Bad weather in Auckland today, with 3 people killed by a tornado, around 2.00 pm. It sounds like there was a lot of lightning strikes as well.
