Talking "SUX" to be Souix City, IA!

In Operational Meteorology, it is very common to hear forecasters pinpoint locations via the ICAO (or airport identifier). I found this story on AOL to be hilarious.

Quote:
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Oct. 21) - City leaders have scrapped plans to do away with the Sioux Gateway Airport's unflattering three-letter identifier - SUX - and instead have made it the centerpiece of the airport's new marketing campaign.

That's funny! I'm just curious why they don't remove the "U". Sioux FAlls is generally abbreviated as Sx. FAlls so you'd think the same would apply for Sioux City. Guess if I lived in Sioux City, I'd be sort of offended, but it's not really one of my fave towns.
