Well, you were wearing 4 layers of clothing which would explain you being comfy. New Yorkers wouldn't wear that much in 20 degree weather. Of course, you still got more used to the cold, so 50 degrees would feel just fine.

Like you can move down south and get used to it in a week. But it will take you a year before you can where full pants and not sweat like the locals.

Not much actually
I was visiting the people i knew from there. Also once we went to a Casino, and we walked around downtown, etc. But yeah, not that much to do

Good idea travelling the world

It depends on the person to be honest. I will say that you never fully adjust though. If you were to live there for a period of time, you'd probably find it very hard.

My mum whines that its cold when it reaches 6c in the winter saying that its cold. I don't get cold until -5c or below. I think it is harder to adjust to heat tbh.

February of 2012, I spent a week in Hawaii with temps in the 80s. Snorkeled, lived in my swimsuit, and walked and swam around the beach all day.... Got back to the Bay Area and 50 degrees felt freezing for a couple of days afterwards. I normally wear a sweater at 50 degrees but needed a jacket the day after I got back. Took a couple of days to get comfy in 50 degree weather again....

February of 2013, I spent a week in NYC with temps ranging from the upper teens to the lower 30s...I walked around outside the entire day, leaving the hotel at 9AM and not coming back til around midnight... Walked around Times Square, Central Park, Financial District, Greenwich, and spent a day at Bronx Zoo (so pretty with snow) and wandered around mostly on foot. The cold wasn't as uncomfortable as I thought it would be since I was wearing 4 layers, gloves, and boots. The worst part was going into stores and sweating with all those layers on. It was kind of fun to walk around and watch my breath puff in front of me (here in the Bay Area, you can only see that on when you deliberately exhale on the colder mornings and then it warms up by 10AM).

When I got back to the Bay Area, it was in the lower 50s the next day which is cooler than average for us but 50 degrees felt like really really warm after a week of temps in the 20s. I was laughing at people when they said it was cold as if I had grown up in a four seasons climate when in reality I only spent a week in NYC... and I would have said 50 degrees was cold just two weeks prior... I was wearing a tee shirt while I normally would wear a sweater at 50 degrees..
After a week back in Calif, 50 degrees felt cold again...

Is it really possible that I acclimated with just that week vacation in both cases? Or am a rare case? I thought it took YEARS to adjust to a new climate...

Am I like really full of ****? I haven't travelled much before the past two years as I didn't have much money til then and as a kid, our family only vacationed within the state.
I remember way back when I was a teenager a really cold December and January. We then hit the 60F on President's Day and we all hung out all day long in t-shirts.

In September every year when we hit the upper 50's for the first time in months I'm freezing.

True- I saw people playing soccer in the snow central park in shorts and a tee and I thought they were freaking crazy.....

I also tried going glove-less so I wouldn't have to take my gloves off every time I wanted to snap a photo or text my friends the pics. My hands got too cold so I had to just take my gloves off just to take the pic and text and then put them back on when I was done...

I'm sure someone who is used to the cold would have no trouble going without gloves and texting the whole damn day.

I also had to wait back to get to the hotel to post the pics on facebook because I didn't want to spend a lot of time uploading pics in the cold....

I think Adrianna must be about 19-22 years old. It's very laughable that she complains that taking gloves off to text and post her pics on facebook as a major problem. In fact, I find that comment to be far more laughable than her thinking 50 is cold She has no clue how it was 15 years ago when no one owned a cell phone. People took pics with film cameras and hope they turned out okay and then share their stories with their friends AFTER they got back from their trip. I am amazed at how this generation has to share everything with their entire social circle immediately.

My "complaint" was an observation: OKAY?
