No, I enjoy winter. Frosty mornings, skiing, good waves, sipping brandy by the fire - all good winter things.

Once it gets to about mid august I'm ready for spring, which is good, as it is usually is spring by then.

I wouldn't call it depression but I definitely notice that I'm in a different mood during fall/winter compared to spring/summer. Fortunately, NYC has some mild days and quite a few bright sunny days during the cold half of the year. If I lived somewhere with truly cold, dark and gloomy winters, I probably would be quite depressed.

That is a quite an uneducated and insensitive view my friend. Many people that suffer from seasonal affective disorder are highly functioning, "stable" individuals that just happen to become depressed during the winter months due to shorter daylight hours.
I would educate yourself a little on the topic before you unleash your uninformed and myopic viewpoints.

Yes. I have seasonal depression, not from cold weather, but from this 7 month BS season that I have suffered for all my life.

I don't get depressed in the winter time. Besides talking on the Weather forum, I don't pay much attention to the weather in real life except for the obvious do I need one or two layers of coats or not

Get 6500K CFL bulbs running at least 20 watts. They'd probably help out plenty in winter

I wouldn't say I'm actively depressed during winter, but when the warmth and light of spring/summer starts to roll around again I find myself having a level of energy and passion that I simply don't have during the cold, dark days of winter.

I've got the light set now but haven't plugged it in. I kept thinking surely my prairie sun would make itself known (these continually wet/overcast winters are such a surprise to me).

will go find it and give it a try.

damn right I do, the permanent winter overcast, dark, cold mornings, incessant drizzle.. .all hell. If we actually got 2-3 crisp clear sunny mornings and days in winter I wouldn't care, but we may get 2-3 during a whole month. FAIL WHALE
