I like bright early mornings as I must off at 6:30am and already at home at 5pm so early sunsets doesn't matter.
That is quite early. I am awake at 6am and out by about 7:00am.

One thing I've realised about people is that they tend to enjoy what they're used to when it comes to day length. People don't normally desire something completely different, unlike temps and rainfall.

I'd prefer some place like Cleveland, OH (41.5 N, 81.7 W). It is shifted about half a time zone west of the middle of Eastern Time, so it has a solar noon of 12:30 in winter and 1:30 in summer. The 15 hour summer days seem ideal for enjoying outdoor activities, while still getting dark enough to sleep at night. The winter sun angle is also low enough that snow melt shouldn't be much of an issue. The only thing I would change is make DST start in early April and end in mid October, to avoid late spring and fall sunrises.

Mar 20: 6:30/18:39
Jun 23: 5:53/21:04
Sep 23: 7:15/19:23
Dec 21: 7:49/17:00

My prime location would be 25W at 58N

Using the gmt timezone (which is dst)

Winter: 9:00am-5:00pm
Summer: 5:00am - 11:00pm

I would truely love a 11:00 sunset because I don't feel as though my current 10:13pm sunset is late enough. In the summer we can still walk to 10:30 depending on the day but it would be nice to be able to have a party/barbeque that lasted to 11:00. I also would like our daylength reduced in the morning because I feel like even with DST my sunrises are wayyy too early, right now its getting bright at 5:00 in June that will be 4:00 which is crazy.

My current sunset is 9:04pm today and while "late" I still feel like this is to early and does not allow people to have a late barbeque outside to take advantage of the long days. If I went out for a walk now it would be dark before 9:50pm. When I went to Florida this summer it was so crappy, we spent alot of our nights in cinemas and playing card games because most of the night was dark, again not used to that and found it hard to cope with because here nighttime is an essential part of our day in the summer e.g late night barbeques outside. The same was true about Spain, really found it hard to get used to 8:30 sunsets.

This is without taking into account the rather low sun angle at 53N+. I remember being out on a sunny day in Newcastle in July and the sun just wasn't strong enough for it to feel genuinely summer-like imho. I think Paris is a good compromise, as it gets a decent seasonal daylength variation without suffering too much from the weak summer sun syndrome. Or maybe I'm just used to it. Ideally, I'd like Leeds' seasonal variation and winter sun angle and Rome's summer sun angle.
? I am using gmt +1 and its only 22:13 here.

We have a crap summer but one thing we are miles ahead of is sunset times. There is nothing as good as a sunny 10pm walk, I don't think I will ever trade my sunset times.

How people cope with 8pm sunsets is beyond me
