Not much Mistral in Nice, if at all. Actually, when Mistral blows in Marseille and Toulon, it often means foehn conditions on the Riviera. Sure, the dew point will be in the -10s, but the temperatures won't follow. I've been living there for 3 years and only one frost has been recorded at the airport station over that timeframe.
that's something i didn't realise Roz - i think what threw me there were the pictures of the freeze in Nice a few years back and assumed it affected the whole of that coastline
Nice for being the coolest. Anyway why wouldn't it be a typical climate? Personally I consider the French and the Italian Mediterrean climates the typical ones, because in Spain and in Africa they are too hot and in the Balkans they tend to be Cfa instead of Csa.
