Err, wrong. Part of climate change is more erratic weather patterns. And if you look at the OVERALL climate trends, they definitely are towards a warming.
the past 6 summers here have all been crap and mostly below average so i really cant see it

I think you may have a selective memory, the last 6 summers have not all been crap & even in the crapper years we have still had some decent weather, especially in either the spring or autumn.
Besides the UK's climate trends have no bearing on the climate in the rest of the world, other countries have had record breaking warmth. And people in the UK forget that we have had some record breaking warm temperatures here too, even over the last couple of years (during spring & autumn) it hasn't just been cool/cold...
Yes, the UK's climate is only a small part of the world and has little impact on the grander scheme of things, though the persistence of cold months has been staggering. 2011 was the second warmest year on record though, but all the warm months fell outside of summer and in spring/autumn, and that is when it truly counts.
"under or above average" never mind, and it's not only the UK, the whole of Western and Northern Europe, indeed the Western Mediterranean (there was snow in the Moroccan Atlas mountains early May, it's an extremely rare phenomenon)has the same weather pattern.
When Phoenix palm trees will start growing in London like in LA, I will take the "climate change" theory seriously. (lol)
