Berlin for the better summers and less sunshine. NYC has better precipitation though. And the winters are maybe a bit more exciting there. But the summers are horribly hot...

NYC for it's higher rainfall and Berlin lower sunshine.

Based on my personal experiences - definitely Berlin as it has much more interesting and varied summer weather than NYC.

I spent a week in Berlin last year in July and whilst it was hot and humid on some days - not as bad as NYC though - they were usually accompanied by frequent powerful evening thunderstorms which dropped the rather high temperature and humidity conditions to comfortable "sleeping" levels.
I was at a friend's place in the East Berlin suburb of Prenzlauer Berg having dinner one evening when hailstorms struck along with squally heavy rain showers, thunder and lightning which lasted an hour which was surreal because I had, earlier on, spent the day in the southern suburb of Mahlow with another friend at his parent's house where it was unbearably hot and humid in the sun with the maximum being over, if memory serves me right, 32C that day along with windless and very hazy skies. iPhone came in very handy, recorded some scenes of the storms as to help me not 'forget'.
In fact during my visit to Germany and, Holland too, those two countries were where I experienced the highest levels of discomfort - high temperatures and levels of humidities - during my 6 week holiday in northern Europe.

As for my last visit to NYC - hot and humid with abundant sunshine and no rain or storms. Nights were quite warm too.

NYC easily. Berlin isn't much warmer than here during summer. They get much better storms than us though, possibly even more than NYC?

NYC is on average 6F or 4.3C degrees warmer year round and gets 50% more sun...NYC by far has a better climate.

Berlin for sure.
NYC is way too sunny for my taste and summers are oppressive. The only + for NYC is the good amount of snow it gets in winter.

Truth New York City Central Park, 1981-2010 normals :

In Europa they are not make "specific" normals like NCDC does in "daily monthly normals", therefore It is necessary to compare who is comparable.
In Europa they just calculate the raw average.

I prefer New York City for the more varied weather, the great sesaonality, the hot and humid summer with short warm rain on some days, the good sunshine hours and the better rainfall pattern.
