Had similar mornings her a couple of weeks ago. Air temp was -2.9C at the beach, sand was frozen. Water temp was 14C/58F. The air temp still climbed to a respectable 16C/61F though.

The pics show mist of the warmer sea water and frozen sand in the morning and the day later on.

That's surreal, nice photos for the photos. I would walk in the sand with bare feet.

It's really strange to see these winter pics with broadleaf evergreen forests. If it wasn't for your comment, I would imagine that they were taken in summer.

Well they can hardly have winter vegetation with temps of 16c.

Nelson gets respectably chilly nights though, cooler than London or central Paris. The vegetation looks similar to parts of Portugal. The climate is not too dissimilar either.

So you think -2C is warm then?

Average winter minimum temps are much the same as they are in NI.

Very much a winter scene to me- the dull light and lack of colour, are in strong contrast to the glaring bright sun and sun browned hills of summer. It's still nice in winter though

Here are some photos of a beach walk yesterday. The temp range was -1.1C/13.8C..... warm enough for an ice cream

No they are not. It is much much colder here in the winter. You don't even have a winter imo.

True, winters here are mild, but average minimums are still much the same as NI.
