Really? I thought London was almost subarctic and it's always raining. And never any sunshine. I've heard that London is the wettest capital in Europe. And coldest. And windiest.

Even in winter? Surely it would be always snowing then? And it hardly ever snows in London. I think you need to go back to your climatology textbook.

LOL Turku and anywhere in finland is much closer to subarctic than anywhere in the UK.

I think they look good in the suburban areas of SE England especially with some of the architecture there, in fact if they can grow there then there's no reason why they shouldn't, and anyway palm trees don't need to be in hot climate or have hot summers, to look "In place", the point is our climate is mild, hence they can survive our mild winters, which is the main requirement for them to survive, not heat in summer, so they don't look out of place at all. I guess you would consider the canary island date palm to be a hardy palm.

I think a sub-forum for these threads is actually quite a good idea, it will make it easier to locate more "meaningful" topics in the main forum and everyone'll know where to find them anyway if they are interested in them. Yes good idea.

Recalibrate your sarcasm radar.

Nobody active on the weather forum could ever have such misconceptions about London's climate. Jeez, I probably know London's climate better than I do my own!

They can be interesting, and sometimes I read them and reply. But they seem to be taking over. And making it hard to find the regular topics.
