Ever experimented with this? The idea is that you take a historical month of your choosing for each individual month of the year, making a 'dream year'. But it's still realistic as it has to be an actual month.

I limited the picks only from 2000 forwards, to make it easier. It's hard enough to choose the best from 12 Mays, for instance. Ok, some of you could say that take every warmest/coldest month on record and combine them, but I noticed it doesn't work. If I take all individual 12 warmest months, I'll end up with a semi-arid Turku. So, you'll have to balance with temps, precipitation and sunshine.

My results were:
|Jan = 2012
|Feb = 2005
|Mar = 2007
|Apr = 2008
|May = 2006
|Jun = 2011
|Jul = 2010
|Aug = 2002
|Sep = 2006
|Oct = 2011
|Nov = 2005
|Dec = 2008

and it looks like this:

Get the idea? This will take some time, but hopefully you're interested in the idea and create a 'dream year' for your location. And rate my chart if you want.

This Turku is worthy of an A-. My only qualm is the slightly warmer than ideal summers, but not too bad overall. Sunshine is on the high side, but still probably 100-200 hours below where I live.

Great thread idea!

Awesome idea Ariete!
I rate this Turku with a B-. It's too sunny in summer/too gloomy in winter, a bit too warm in summer, the winters are a bit too long and overall, it's too dry.

The precipitation was a problem. The May I wanted to pick had 4mm of rainfall, so I had to take May 2006. Same thing with June. As July and August were obvious picks due to the temps, I had to choose a wetter, but still warm June.
And sunshine in winter was a minor problem. It's virtually impossible to find a sunny November or December. The sunniest December since 1981 had 57 hours of sunshine, so what are you gonna do? And a gloomy but warm summer is also very difficult to find... But hey, I didn't take July 1994, which had 442 (80%) sunshine hours. Or June 2010 with 384...

If it's ok, don't start own threads for your results, just to keep the amount of topics at an acceptable level. This is not a 'rate my Turku' thread, but for all your creations! We should keep this discussion here. Ok?

It doesn't matter. Make a chart for Buxton. If you take all of the UK, it loses the whole point. Figure when the US guys come and pick any month for any location within the US. Limit it to your city only. It's not a requirement that you have actually experienced all those 12 months.

All those months were like that for pretty much all of the UK. The point I'm making about Buxton and being in different places is I don't have data for Buxton for all those months. I also don't have data for them all for other places.
