Wow, Muggy night..

I remember walking the streets in the little town we're from when we went and it was muggy. Our condo on 3rd floor did not have A/C and windows were too big to fit a window unit in. No elevator either. I didn't enjoy the time there. lol Lots of stone, concrete & pavement around it felt muggier then back home for some reason.

Current nighttime dew points. 77F is Brescia & Ferrara. 75F on East side is Cervia

I'm sweating just reading this. I like heat, but that's just too much. In fact, I'd say that heat and humidity combination is on the dangerous side for some people.

Impressive nonetheless.

And looking at the general flow of things over Illinois...

Upper level is from the WNW
Mid Level is from the West
Surface is from the SW

But is from the South/SouthEast over Texas and Louisiana at both surface and midlevel.... so the Gulf of Mexico is playing a role there pushing the DPs up into the 70s and 80s from the Gulf coast to Wisconsin.

That humidity in IL and MO is really extraordinary.

I really wonder what the frequency of such humid air in those places is? Once a year? Five years? Ten?!?

NYC is one of the least humid places I'm seeing on the map. Odd.

I would guess its pretty common. Maybe not exact spots but maybe every other year? We should pick one station and just got back a few years to see if they did hit 80s before this year.

I checked the Weatherspark data for Pontiac, Illinois for the past five years. It looks like dew points of 80F will occur in a typical year, but that 84F today was a bit unusual.

Anyways, like you said, it looks like a humid spell of this magnitude happens every couple years in that area.

we had a dp of about 21c this morning, remains around 20c now.

Now I'm starting to have throat problems in the morning and last night my shirt was wet of just sitting outside, so i almost got a cold when i went home in 27c.

I love hot summers, but these high dps are horrendous, it does not feel like summer, especially when getting a sore throat like it was november. Can't wait to feel some hot saharian air in France with cooler refreshing nights.

And the sky is a greyish blue. Ugly.
