So there's probably around 18 inches of snow on the ground now. The most snow I've seen on the ground since I moved away from Michigan!

I wonder how long this will last... as long as there isn't a freak warm up and heavy rain like in the NE, it could last quite a while. Maybe the whole winter? I can dream.

Yay. Winter is back after a 12hr Spring. 35mph NW wind gusts. Temps below freezing and snow showers now. Should drop to down to 5°F

Here's a graph from my weather stations. Temps are in F°

With this arctic air cooling off the Gulf of Mexico I might have to re-think the whole stormy pattern going forward. The cooler waters could cut off any convection down there that has been streaming into the US.

The mid month thaw might help warm the waters back up though.

Amazing how everything is related and works together..

After a "thaw" next week (maybe 3 days that will make it above freezing), guess who is going to be making his way back down to the Midwest?

We have officially 34.7 inches/88.1 cm of snow so far this winter. More than all of last winter already and 3 times the average to date. Good start to winter

Well thanks America for trying to send the cold this way.....

The latest GFS run is total trash, one for the garbage can I think. 2°C crap day after day with frosts every night. No thanks!
I guess it's that hard to get 3 mild months in a row in winter even though cold lovers have been spoiled with super cold snaps in recent years so much. Gar.

That map seems a little generous, at least around NYC/Long Island.
