So there's probably around 18 inches of snow on the ground now. The most snow I've seen on the ground since I moved away from Michigan!
I wonder how long this will last... as long as there isn't a freak warm up and heavy rain like in the NE, it could last quite a while. Maybe the whole winter? I can dream.
With this arctic air cooling off the Gulf of Mexico I might have to re-think the whole stormy pattern going forward. The cooler waters could cut off any convection down there that has been streaming into the US.
The mid month thaw might help warm the waters back up though.

We have officially 34.7 inches/88.1 cm of snow so far this winter. More than all of last winter already and 3 times the average to date. Good start to winter

The latest GFS run is total trash, one for the garbage can I think. 2°C crap day after day with frosts every night. No thanks!
I guess it's that hard to get 3 mild months in a row in winter even though cold lovers have been spoiled with super cold snaps in recent years so much. Gar.
