Here's a comparison of the enhanced Water Vapor from January 1st (couple days b4 the northeast snowstorm) & Today on the right.. HUGE U shape area of dry air right now..
You can see the Subjet faucet getting cutoff for the past week. If you play the loop its even more impressive to see.
I warned about this back on the 10th. This is why we're not getting big storms right now. The faucet is choked off. I want to see how it fills in and if it comes back to life now.
Mostly agree. The most organized clipper systems with a short wave bundle of energy can produce moderate snow (up to six inches) but rarely a storm larger than that.
Drip drip drip... GFS confirming my thoughts.. Without a streaming tropical faucet, the hose just drips dry. Aside from Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and Northern New England, GFS says less than 0.10" precip next 3 days. previous run said 0.07" for Hartford next 8 days.
That subjet better get its act together soon otherwise I might end up being wrong about an active cold stormy pattern I had mentioned to start after the 19th.
Our local NWS Facebook page had this video posted of one of the large cargo ships making it's way through the ice on the St. Mary's river up here by the Soo region. The USCG Icebreaker Mackinaw was brought in to help dislodge the much larger cargo ship from the thick ice due to the bitter cold this year.
The Mackinaw is 240 ft long and when you see it in comparison to the cargo ship it seems so small. The video is run in 64X actual speed so you'll see some fast ice breaking. Hope some of you can enjoy this while waiting for the next clipper system to swing through the lakes region this week.
Dreading that low of 7 F later this week bud. But hey, its a Joisey winter. Whaddaya expect .
Oh please. As if 7F was expected for winter around here. You do realize that if 7F is normal around here in winter, then so is a high temp of around 58F.

7F is normal in a Jersey winter?! Unless you mean a few times a winter
