^^^ haha, even girls? In Nice guys do it between themselves as well; something that has always surprised my friends from the other parts of the country.
Yes. I prefer to hug. A handshake is enough between men. Or a hug if you haven't seen for a long time. But not that shoulder to shoulder douchebag hug.
I don't even KNOW how to kiss on the cheeks.
I've heard that Provence - three kisses, Paris - two kisses, Lyon - one kiss. The less the better.

Sorry, off topic.
When I lived in Paris as student, we did cheek kissing with male friends too... I do it regulary. But I'm biaised since I've lived in the south for years. I 'think this is classic mostly in Paris and in the while southern half
Care to help, as there's a few French posters here?
France is not the best country for continental climates lovers. As best we have some "continentalized" climates, but no real continental as you have in eastern Europe.
Lyon is classified as subtropical humid in Koppen, like Milan or Venice. very similar climate.
Grenoble is about the same, can be very hot in summer. Contrary to the common idea, Grenoble is not really a mountain city; it is surrounded by mountains and pre-alps but lie only at 200 meters high, position quite similar to Turin on the other side of the Alps.
nowhere in France you have big potential for snow outside of mountains locations in high altitude.
Most of France does. Even Paris averages 20C in July.
Not sure that's correct?
I remember being told (while in Paris) only on the French Riveria has monthly mean temps of 70 F or higher. Most of the rest of the country has mean temps (in the warmest months) of 65 to 69 F (18 - 20 C). According to their climate data, Paris has a high of 77 F in July....but the monthly mean temp is 68.5 F:
Cities like Lyon average 28C/82F - 17C/62F in July. Even warm oceanic Bordeaux averages 26.5C/80F - 15C/59F in August. A 80F/60F summer is IMO a warm summer.
Although close, I think it's the same for Bordeaux - no month has an average mean temp of 70 F or higher:
