CFSv2 suggesting September is going to get chilly (below normal) from Central U.S to East. This warmup happening this week is just a re-load pattern IMO.

The cfs never gives us a temperature signal. But what it is doing is showing east europe very warm which must mean that it will be very cold here.

6°C lows are forecasted for the weekend and 20°C highs are getting rare. Loving the coolness.

Here in the Pacific Northwest I would prefer the opposite pattern: dry and sunny for September and October, THEN let's get stormy and chilly as we head into November.

Reason? Dry upper-level ridge patterns give us gorgeous "Indian Summer" weather before Halloween - but after Halloween we're instead looking at inversions with chilly low clouds/fog in the lowlands and warm sunshine in the mountains. As far as I'm concerned, let's have our ridges and dry weather at a time of year when the sun angle can still support warm temperatures all the way to sea level, rather than an early rainy season followed by a dreary and boring inversion period in November.

Down to 3c in Aboyne last night. Nothing special for August but since we are having such warm nights I thought i'd mention it.
