It snowed here Monday, 1 to 2 inches, then a few flakes today. There's going to be a white thanksgiving. It's not supposed to get up to freezing until Saturday, if that holds we will almost have a week below freezing (reached 33F today). A welcome change after the lack of fall snow in the past few years.

Not too from where I'm at.

Winter Weather Advisory in NW New Jersey. My mother said schools closed early today due to threat of ice. Overall this is going to be a washout. Flood Watches in effect.

Many parts of Southern Europe will wake up to freezing temps while the UK bathes in tropical heat.

^^

Don't you mean the UK will bath in Atlantic mildness? I wouldn't call 8C "tropical heat"

Heavy lake effect snow so close yet so far away from where I live.

A close up of where the snow will fall in comparison to the city, and to my house

I wasn't following weather outside Paris lately, was surprised to see that it's cold south and east of me. Britain and NW France are climatic wrecks.

Looks like Le Puy is the first department capital to have an ice day. Not surprising considering the elevation.

Exactly. Right now, I hate the UK's climate, and seeing those places in Spain below-freezing while we have lows of 8C makes my skin crawl. At least you have proper winters to look forward to. I have nothing to look forward to. What is the point?

for a change, the norwegian arctic seems to be running a good deal below average the coming 10 days (not that common nowadays).

Sarcasm, my friend. Actually it's subtropical mildness, as the Azores high has been moving north and will continue to do so in the next few days.
