I should add to the above post, I am amazed at the micro climates Hawaii has. We ascended to the peak of Mt Haleakala early on in our trip. Every 5-10 minutes the temperature dropped markedly.
It was like passing through several climatic zones! By the time we reached the summit, it was jacket weather.

If you go back sometime, the Big Island has an amazing range of climates ... a driving trip around it and over the top is most illuminating!
July 2013 for Nice - main points: (I'll do the chart later).
*Slightly warmer than normal, especially at night with a 22.1/28.1°C average
*Wetter with 23.5mm - almost all of it fell on the 28th. Wasn't there so I can't comment but I heard it was a big storm with trees being uprooted and stuff.
*Sunshine about normal with 336 hours
*Most interesting point IMO: Despite a 28.1°C average high for the month and the rest of the country experiencing significantly warmer conditions than normal, the highest temperature recorded in July 2013 (and 2013 as a whole so far!) at the airport station was a meagre 31.3°C - aka we still have not exceeded 90°F! This is probably largely influenced by the station's location, apparently temps up to 34°C were recorded by some PWS's downtown.
A few days, especially during the first half of the month, felt steamy so I'm surprised at the readings. July 6 recorded only 24/29°C at the notoriously cool and windy airport but felt Hong Kongish downtown. Actual temps in the old town where I live were probably closer to 27/32°C. And it was humid and hazy on that day. (Nothing to complain about!)
Overall a mild, dry month. Very little snow on the mountains.
I'm amazed at Motueka's large diurnal range.
Avg high 59F / 15C
Avg low 32F / 0C
That is almost identical to the averages for january in El Paso, TX
An almost 30 degree F diurnal range is typical in drier areas of the US west (desert/semi desert)
but Motueka is coastal NZ with an oceanic climate
July was unusually cloudy month with record high lower than even June!
