Boulder. Great climate.

Sunnier, snowier, drier, less humid. I like variability but only in autumn and winter, below freezing in June is subpar.

New York City by a long shot, It's a more "living", varied and defined seasonal climate, Boulder is a dry hell and a winter day can still occur even in may in these kind of places, definitely not my cup of tea...
Also when it rain in summer in Boulder (unlike New York City where the summer rain are far more pleasant and summer like because of the acceptable temp when it occur) the temperature fall in a really cool (not to say cold...) level and therefore make me more think of a autumnal rain more than a summer one...

NY, because NY doesn't get snow in May and October, though I don't like either climate

So Boulder.
Don't forget that Boulder gets snow in May and October

Boulder looks better in every single month!

I'd have preferred 2-3C cooler summer highs but besides that it looks entirely liveable with a touch of Swedish winters during those nights...

Boulder also gets more intense cold snaps. How often does NYC see highs below 15-20 F, let alone below 0 F like Boulder can get on occasion?

I'd choose Boulder btw for being more interesting. It's too dry for my liking, but NYC is too moderated for my liking.

That's rather overstating it, at least for May, don't you think?

According to Wikipedia, Boulder averages 0.6 snowy days in May so it wouldn't snow every single May. Perhaps 2 snow days one May, then no snow days for the next two Mays. Or something like that.

For October it averages 1.8 snow days so, yes, likely some snow every October but with an average high of 18.8°C I doubt it sticks around for long.

Boulder by far. My family's from there and it's a quite a nice area in addition to the climate. Gets a B/B+ from me while NYC is a C/C+.

NYC easily for way less snowfall and more stable weather overall between seasons.
