Well in my place it snows in November and as we all saw in November 2010 winter can start BEFORE December.

Do you even realize how large America is? To give you an idea, right now a tropical storm is hitting the Gulf Coast, huge snowstorms are burying places out West, and here we are having warm early Fall weather.
Ireland could fit easily into Pennsylvania.

No.

We can have ice days in November with blizzards etc. The fact that there are flowers inbud with 28c says it all. Even though it was well above average today with 19c the trees have turned and the leaves are falling.

Idc about the western parts. I only think about the eastern parts as that is closest to me and has more similar weather.
