How many of you would be in favour of the following scenario:
Canada is moved out of its current position and moved to the middle of the Pacific Ocean between 23N and 18S at longitude 105W to 166E longitude. In its place, there will be a much larger ocean directly north of the USA extending all the way to the north pole. Alaska will become a very large island with of course many smaller islands. Also, how do you think this major shift would affect weather patterns around the world?
Totally against it. Our winters would become lame and mild. Our summers would stay the same more or less, maybe with even fewer mild spells. At least now a cold and somewhat snowy winter is possible after a long, hot, humid summer.
I voted yes of course cause I don't enjoy cold winters. Cold lovers will be opposed as they know it would kill winters for good, at least cold winters.
Cold lovers rejoice though cause this ain't never gonna happen.
I wouldn't like it because it wouldn't be nearly as cold in the winter. There'd be less hope of the occasional cool down during the summer as well.
would there? I would think the opposite. Sea will be cooler than land in the summer. Relatively cool cloudy weather might be possible from a NW airflow.

I imagine winters may be more maritime like the UK or parts of BC Canada. Cool and cloudy weather would be possible in the summer I suppose, but there'd still be plenty of heat and humidity during the summer. Winters would see the most drastic change I think.
I would love it South florida would become a true tropical paradise. there would be no more arctic cold snaps and miami would be about 5 degrees warmer in the winter
