Yep, the weather in Hasting would be a big improvement over Wellington, with 7 months having an average maximum of 20C or higher.

Down here is just fine the way it is.

I like Wellington as the Capital though. The weather adds to the solemn feel to the seat of power

Yeah true.

Alexandra in the south island has the hotter summers and drier weather overall, although the winters are cool.

I would make it Chicago. That would make us the coldest capital city . I doubt Ottawa sees 30 sub zero F nights in winter.

Definitely Ogulin for its central position, great natural and historical features and a climate quite better than Zagreb, with much more precipitation and cooler summers.
