The warmest I've been in is probably around 30c/86f in Florida. The coldest was in a river in Washington that was coming straight from a glacier about 8 miles upstream. The water was also frozen over the night before and had just broken up (it was in spring.) I couldn't stay underwater for more than a few seconds.

The North Florida Atlantic coast in June 2005. Very comfortable waters.

28°C in Venice and the Caribbean. Feels refreshing coming from the warm outdoors. It's near ideal imo.

I don't know the exact temperature, probably around 30C/86F in various locations: Cozumel, Mexico; Belize City, Belize; St Thomas, US Virgin Islands; Tortola, British Virgin Islands. I've swum in the sea in those locations in July and August and I loved the warm water. A lot more fun to swim in than our ocean waters in NJ.

>37c in the South China Sea off Tioman Island in Malaysia. The only way to cool off was to get wet, then stand up and the wind evaporating the water from your skin would feel cool for a couple of seconds.

I hate water that hot. I've experienced 34 and 35c water in the gulf and it's way to hot. anything over 32c and I don't go in. 28-30c is perfect, 26-28 and 30-32c are tolerable but not as nice as 28-30c.

31C in Miami in August. Lovely actually - I only really enjoy water north of 24C, preferably 26C-30C.
