Other than the extreme radational cooling allowing temps to approach the freezing mark tonight, the rest of the week looks fabulous. Not bad at all for December

The Low temperature in eastern Kansas this morning was 15F.
The Current temperature is 45F.
Overall, the rest of the week looks to have above normal temperatures with slight chances of precipitation.

I'm not an agricultural expert by any means, in fact, I may be labeled agriculturally ignorant... but doesn't the grass go dormant regardless of temperature in December?

I couldn't say. We have bermuda grass here. Our grass goes dormant in November when the freezing temperatures arrive.
