We really have to in SoCal. It can be 50* as the high one week. I remember one February though, we set a record for the month here at the beach at 92* during Santa Ana winds. Also, if it's going to rain, leave 30-45 mins before your usual time b/c people don't know how to drive in the rain here and last time we had over 300 accidents in one day.
After reviewing the weather channel website, it 91* on January 31, 2003. That's pretty darn close to our all time record, 110 in September during a Santa Ana. It's also funny that the coldest temp. ever recorded was 27* in 1949, the only time it's gone below freezing here by the beach and that is higher than some normal temps of the midwest and new england.

Just be glad you don't have a high A/C bill. I wish it was in the 70's during our summer. 90 and 100's get old fast. But, ya know, whatever floats your boat
We had a nice warm day today for this time of year. It was in the 30s. It's currently 18/windchill 11. The forecast for tomorrow isn't much more then 18 for a high.
Right now in Washburn Maine it is 5 F. Never quite broke into the double digits today, came close, but only made it to 9. Should be -4 to -8 tonight, but there is no wind to speak of so it won't feel to bad. They are hoping for almost 20 tomorrow (I'm not holding my breath though). Sat. it is supposed to start cooling down again and the high is supposed to be 7.
Freezing fog is some nasty Ju-Ju. When the temp drops the moisture in the air condenses into fog. Water vapor can be below freezing and not freeze the water particles into ice drops. The supercooled water droplets need a surface to form ice. Usually it can happen from 32 to about 14 or 15 degrees if I remember right. Once the water droplet touches a surface that is below freezing it will freeze to that surface. This can make for some interesting driving if the fog is heavy and the road surface is cold. It forms "hoar frost" or "rime ice" (depending on your location and what the locals call it.) on everything that is below freezing. On the roadways it can form a light layer of black ice if the conditions are right.
