Oh my!! It is a bit toasty in some areas right now, isn't it?

Robyn, are you having a cold front or will it be hotter as the day goes on? Your summer weather would be perfect for me. Now if you can just get rid of the occasional ice storms, that'd be my spot.

Kaykay, I'm sorry to hear about your power failure. We could actually survive it here during the summertime, but some days would be pretty rough. DH and I both grew up without AC, but we're spoiled now. We don't generally turn it on until noon or 2 pm, but it sure would get hot in here without it at all. We run it very few nights~maybe 5 nights so far this summer.

Yesterday we hit 89 degrees~our average is 87. The record low for yesterday was 46 in 1898 and the record high was 112 in 1934.

Right now it's 80 with a heat index of 82 and we're heading for 86. 11 mph winds~humidity at 64% and dewpoint at 66%, but that last number will go up considerably today.

Just adding this 20 minutes after I posted~I think there is something wrong with weather.com the past few days. I just checked the weather channel and it's only 77 degrees here. I had the same thing happen Sat. or Sun.

According to the Local on the 8s, it is currently 97 degrees with a heat index of 101. Not unbearably hot...but then again, I'm an oddball. I went outside and cut the grass about 3 hours ago.

Wow, glad to hear your electricity is back on!!! I would have gone to the hotel too!!

HEAT ADVISORY!!!!!

101 in 2006 is the record high for today!! I have had several calls for this answer. Yes, today will rival, if not get hotter than it was a few years ago. We will see the high temperature today in the upper 90's to lower 100's. That is just the air temperature. The heat index will be in the category of 105 to 110 during most of the afternoon. The heat advisory is only in affect for today through 8 pm. A heat advisory has not yet been put in place for the rest of the week. I would not be surprised that one will be put in place for tomorrow, later today. So please take it easy out there for the next few days (at least). Drink plenty of water.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be found in the area beyond the plentiful sunshine. Your chances today are at only about 5 to 10 percent and roughly about 10 to 15 percent for tomorrow. Nothing to write home about, in other words. Down the line we will see some scattered showers and thunderstorms to finish the work week and into the weekend. All that activity will be due to the heat of the day and a weaker frontal system in the area.

It is a perfect 72 right now with a nice sunny day. A nice break from the mid to upper 80's we had last week. Slight chance of rain tomorrow, but we could use a bit again. Fruit is beginning to be harvested and I cannot wait for the peaches to be ready in a couple of weeks. Going to break out the canner and try to put up 100+ quarts this year. Add to that a couple dozen of the blackberries, and raspberries and we will be all set for the winter. Nothing like a taste of summer sunshine during the cold winter.

Some rare sunshine today in the East Midlands of England, letting us see the dizzy heights of 68*f again! The next few days may even be into the 70's before it all goes back to drizzle and cold after the weekend, no doubt!
