Jammie, El Paso is about 150 miles southwest of us and yes they were getting some flooding. I guess the rain didn't make it across the Guadalupe Mountains to us. Ruidoso is about 2 hours northwest of us and have gotten around nine inches for the month...6-7 in one 24 hour period...they had some really bad flooding. It washed out several bridges, several cars, RV's and mobile homes were washed down river. Ruidoso Downs (where the horse racing track is) was almost completely underwater, though I did see on the news where they are already trying to get it fixed for a big race this next weekend. Unfortunately, we have only gotten enough rain to make the dusty cars nice and spotty! And, of course, the dreaded humidity!

Just heard on the Albuquerque news that Ruidoso is expecting another storm tonight....just what they don't need.

Well, um, just parts of NM. This is apparently the worst flood Ruidoso has had in over 40 years. The weird part is Lincoln Forest was closed most of the spring and until the first of July due to being so dry. They just got way too much way too fast. We, on the other hand, are about 4 1/2 inches behind in our rainfall for the year. This is supposed to be our monsoon season, but, it all seems to be hitting on the west side of the mountains. When we do get any rain you can almost hear the ground slurping it up. We had our flood about 5 years ago, but nothing on the scale of Ruidoso's. The big problem is, we have been way behind on rainfall/moisture since then. Hopefully they are not receiving buckets tonight...supposed to just be a slow rain...but any rain right now is too much.

Here it's still 86 with a humidity of 34%. I swear I wouldn't complain about the humidity so much if we just got a little bit of rain to show for it.
